Tests & Special Preparation

Please complete any pre-operative blood tests and investigations (e.g. urine tests, x-rays) 5 - 7 days prior to admission.

Blood transfusion tests (Group & Hold) must be done no more than 4 working days before admission.

BOWEL PREP

If you are required to take bowel preparation before your procedure, please collect the preparation and instructions from Belverdale Hospital at least 5 days prior to your procedure. Bowel prep instructions are tailored to the individual and consults take around 20-30 minutes.  This prep is only given to patients by request of admitting surgeon. 

We provide the following options -

• Prep may to be couriered to you on request 
• You may request a date and time to collect
• You are welcome to walk-in to request prep following a booking request from your service.  Walk in service is only available during office hours.  Please be aware that walk-in provisions are subject to availablitiy of staff, and ensure that you are prepared to wait 15-30 minutes for staff to become available to provide a consultation

Bowel prep is not able to be given without information regarding your known medical conditions and current medications and allergies, as outlined in the Health Questionnaire which your surgeon will give you. Please complete and bring this with you before requesting bowel prep.
